Rolfing?
Rolfing®, also referred to as Structural Integration and Manual Therapy, works on a web-like complex of connective tissues to release, realign and balance the whole body. Discomfort can potentially be resolved, and compensations may be greatly reduced.
Research has demonstrated that Rolfing creates a more efficient use of our muscles, allowing the body to conserve energy and refine movement patterns.
Rolfing may significantly reduce chronic stress, enhancing neurological function.
Posture and structure can be dramatically altered, alleviating pain.
Clients generally remain fully clothed in these sessions.
"The benefit I get from Rolfing, gives me the chance to move move freely with less pain, the ability to continue to exercise, stay fit and enjoy an active lifestyle."
~ Judy C.
ScarWork
As a specialized form of Rolfing, ScarWork uses some of the same techniques, but may involve an even lighter, more casual touch. The work is rarely painful - even for very new scars. The amount of change in one intervention can be extensive.
ScarWork often results in large whole body integration shifts and can aid in trauma resolution. Nerve-impaired numbness has been shown to resolve in some clients in as little as (1) session.
Since ScarWork addresses a very specific area, the scar and surrounding skin will be fully exposed to allow the
practitioner access to the scar tissue.
